Shoplifters United (The Smiths Tribute) & Debased (A Pixies Tribute)

A double bill at Kilowatt in San Francisco with two tribute acts: Shoplifters United performs the music of The Smiths, and Debased performs the music of Pixies. Neither act is the original band.

Shoplifters United is a tribute to The Smiths, the Manchester band formed in 1982 around singer Morrissey and guitarist Johnny Marr. The group's catalog includes the albums The Queen Is Dead and Meat Is Murder, and songs such as "This Charming Man" and "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out." Shoplifters United is a tribute act and not the original band.

Debased pays tribute to Pixies, the Boston rock band formed in 1986 by Black Francis and Kim Deal. Its albums Surfer Rosa and Doolittle are among the band's best-known records, and "Where Is My Mind?" is one of its most recognized songs. Debased is a tribute act and not the original band.

The bill suits listeners who follow 1980s British and American alternative rock and want to hear these two catalogs performed live. Kilowatt is a San Francisco venue that hosts concerts and shows.
