The Carole King & James Taylor Story

A tribute show built around the songs of Carole King and James Taylor, two singer-songwriters rooted in folk, country and blues, presented at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center in Aventura.

Carole King built her reputation as a songwriter in the New York Brill Building era, writing with Gerry Goffin hits such as "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," recorded by the Shirelles, and "Up on the Roof." Her 1971 album Tapestry became a landmark of singer-songwriter pop. James Taylor emerged in the early 1970s with the album Sweet Baby James, which includes "Fire and Rain," and his 1971 recording of King's "You've Got a Friend" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Both artists draw on folk, country and blues, which shape the music this show draws on.

The Carole King & James Taylor Story is a tribute and is not performed by Carole King or James Taylor. It centers on the catalogue of these two writers, presented by a separate act.

The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center hosts concerts and shows in Aventura. The evening suits listeners who know the 1970s singer-songwriter repertoire and want to hear it performed live.
