The Kingston Trio

A concert by The Kingston Trio at Aventura Arts & Cultural Center in Aventura, a city in Miami-Dade County north of Miami. The venue hosts concerts and shows.

The Kingston Trio formed in San Francisco in 1957, with Bob Shane, Dave Guard and Nick Reynolds as its founding members. Its 1958 recording of "Tom Dooley" reached No. 1 on the Billboard chart and remains the group's best-known song. Dave Guard left in 1961, and John Stewart joined the group that year.

Other titles associated with the group include "M.T.A." and "Where Have All the Flowers Gone," both recorded in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Their catalogue is built on close vocal harmonies and acoustic guitar and banjo arrangements, which made the trio one of the best-selling vocal groups of its era.

Aventura Arts & Cultural Center presents concerts and shows in Aventura, so the evening suits listeners who want to hear this repertoire performed in a local venue rather than in a large city hall. The program is aimed at audiences drawn to American vocal group recordings of the late 1950s and 1960s.
