The Pineapple Thief

The Pineapple Thief is a British progressive rock band from Somerset, England, appearing at the Howard Theatre in Washington. The group's music follows a tradition that began in Britain in the late 1960s and 1970s.

The Pineapple Thief are a British progressive rock band from Somerset, in southwest England. Bruce Soord formed the group in 1999, and it released its first album, Abducting the Unicorn, on the Kscope label that same year. Soord founded the project, so the band's identity has been tied to a single creative lead from the start.

Progressive rock took shape in Britain in the late 1960s and 1970s, built on extended compositions, layered arrangements and an emphasis on albums as complete works. The Pineapple Thief place their music within that lineage, which is the main reference point for listeners who follow the band's catalog. The genre label attached to this concert, pop, rock and indie, covers a wider range than the band's progressive roots.

The Howard Theatre is a Washington venue that hosts concerts and shows, so this evening suits listeners who follow progressive rock and want to hear the band in a city venue.
