Wicked

Wicked is a musical staged at the Citizens Opera House in Boston. It is a theater production of a story set in the world of Oz.

Wicked has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, adapted from Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The show retells L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz through the eyes of Elphaba and Glinda, two students whose friendship and rivalry drive the plot. Its best-known songs include "Defying Gravity," "Popular" and "The Wizard and I." The musical opened on Broadway in 2003 and has since been staged in productions around the world.

Citizens Opera House is a Boston venue that hosts concerts and shows, and this engagement brings the musical to its stage. The production suits audiences who enjoy large-scale musical theater and want to see how the novel and the classic Oz story connect within a single evening of song and dialogue.
