Wild Pink

Wild Pink, an American power-pop band from New York, plays Songbyrd in Washington, D.C., with Hiding Places on the bill. The band is led by John Ross and built around narrative songwriting.

Wild Pink is an American power-pop band formed in 2015 in New York. Its self-titled debut album, released in 2017, introduced the project, and its sixth album, Still Coming Down, is where frontman John Ross has settled fully into a voice developed across earlier records. Following Dulling the Horns from 2024, the songs draw on passersby, fictional figures and historical oddities, often delivered with wit.

Still Coming Down pokes fun at consumerism and the appeal of detachment, and its scenes range from grocery stores to films such as Heat, Moneyball and The Town, with references to Waterworld and The Perfect Storm. After Ross overcame cancer and became a father for the first time, the album turns toward being present in the moment. Musically, it is a rock record built on large chords, harmonicas, horns, keys and pedal steel, and Ross revisited the grunge bands of his teenage years while shaping his performance.

The concert takes place at Songbyrd, a Washington venue that hosts concerts and shows, with Hiding Places on the bill. The evening suits listeners drawn to narrative songwriting and rock arrangements.
