About — The artist
Anthony Cornelius Hamilton (born 28 January 1971) is an American singer from Charlotte, North Carolina. He signed with Uptown Records to record his debut studio album, XTC, planned for 1996 but ultimately shelved. He later gained recognition for his feature on Nappy Roots' single "Po' Folks" in 2002, which reached number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100, leading him to sign with So So Def Recordings.
His second studio album, Comin' from Where I'm From (2003), was certified platinum by the RIAA, received four Grammy Award nominations and produced the single "Charlene" (2004), which reached number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100. His third and fourth albums, Ain't Nobody Worryin' (2005) and The Point of It All (2008), both reached the top 20 of the Billboard 200 and were certified gold by the RIAA. He then joined RCA Records for his fifth and sixth albums, Back to Love (2011) and What I'm Feelin' (2016).
Hamilton has won one Grammy Award from 12 nominations. He is also known for the song "Freedom" (with Elayna Boynton), which he co-wrote and performed for the soundtrack of the film Django Unchained (2012).
