About — The artist
Black Flag is an American hardcore punk band from Hermosa Beach, California. The group was formed by Greg Ginn, the guitarist, principal songwriter and sole permanent member through numerous changes of personnel. They are widely regarded as one of the first hardcore punk bands. Their name and logo recall the black flag, a symbol of anarchist thought.
After splitting up in 1986, Black Flag briefly reunited in 2003, then again between 2013 and 2014. Black Flag was and remains highly respected within the punk subculture, mainly for their tireless promotion of a do-it-yourself ideology.
