About — The artist
Ours is an American rock band formed by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jimmy Gnecco. Since the band's formation in 1994, Gnecco has been its only permanent member, joined by a line-up of musicians that changes. Their music has been described as alternative rock, progressive rock and art rock. Their emotionally intense and anthemic approach has earned the band comparisons with U2 and Jeff Buckley.
Ours released its first album, Sour, in 1994. The band signed with DreamWorks Records in 1997 and released Distorted Lullabies in 2001, its first album on a major label. Precious followed in 2002, but after DreamWorks' demise, the band went through several major labels before releasing Mercy in 2008, its third album, through Rick Rubin's American Recordings. After a five-year break, Ours independently released Ballet the Boxer 1 (2013), New Age Heroine II (2018) and an eponymous album (2021), completing a planned trilogy. The band has toured with The Wallflowers, Marilyn Manson, A-ha and Lana Del Rey.
