Festival Internacional de Música Contemporánea de Madrid - COMA’26

The Madrid Association of Composers (AMCC) is organising a new edition of the Contemporary Music Festival, COMA, based on current musical creation in the city of Madrid, where composers born or resident in Madrid present their works performed by great artists. In 2026 the cycle celebrates its 28th edition in the Sala Roja Concha Velasco, the Sala Verde and the Sala Negra of Teatros del Canal with performances scheduled for the 22nd, 26th and 30th of September and the 6th, 13th and 27th of October.

This edition is presented with major new features such as new venues, collaborations with orchestras and choirs like OSUCM and ORCAM, exhibitions and more surprises. Following a successful open call to which more than 120 applications from various countries were submitted, a diverse selection of soloists and ensembles has been made. All this has resulted in a new edition that brings together more than 22 activities.

The Teatros del Canal venue will host six concerts with highly varied proposals. The programme will begin with a recital by the Atlántida Chamber Orquestra conducted by Manuel Tévar, followed by prestigious formations and soloists. The Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid, under the direction of Javier Carmena, is participating in COMA once again, holding a concert in the Sala Roja Concha Velasco, where Sonor Ensemble and Anna Cabrera will also perform.

The programme is completed with concerts by Spanish Brass (National Music Prize) and Joan Castelló and Eugenio Uñón (percussion) in the Sala Negra. The festival will come to an end on 27 October with a performance by the Cuarteto Ascot in the Sala Verde.
