Navegar por el Neva

As part of Canal Hispanidad, the Sala Negra at Teatros del Canal hosts from 13 to 18 October the premiere of a production where the original cast of Neva reunite 13 years later to discuss the passage of time.

Neva, the acclaimed piece by Chilean playwright Guillermo Calderón, returns to the stage with a proposal that combines a review of the original text with a reflection on time and the personal and artistic evolution of its performers.

Premiered in 2006 to an excellent reception from critics and audiences alike both in Chile and internationally, Neva became one of the most representative productions of contemporary Chilean theatre. Now, its original protagonists (Jorge Becker, Trinidad González and Paula Zúñiga) take up the performance from a new perspective, marked by accumulated experience and the bond they have maintained over the years.

The show intertwines scenes from the play written by Calderón with new moments created to highlight how time has transformed both the characters and those who brought them to life. Joining this reunion is musician Tomás González, whose presence broadens the scenic universe of the production.

Indeed, it is an exercise in memory and dialogue between the past and the present. Thus, the relationship between fiction and real life is explored, allowing the friendship that unites its protagonists to emerge on stage and become one of the emotional axes of the staging. All of this to investigate the capacity of works to acquire new meanings with the passage of time.
