Overview
The Málaga-born artist returns to the Soho with her work, winner of the 2022 Premio Max
The woman reflects on: textile super-production, capitalism, entertainment, culture, languages, nicknames and the service sector. But above all, this story is laughter and thought. The mouth performs choreographies and always repeats them. Plá-ta-no. The tongue sticks to the teeth and shoots out (think of your mouth saying no). But it is not only the mouth that dances in this piece: the body carries out an exercise in endurance for 57 minutes. A treadmill, a diaphragm and a route turn our everyday wandering into an event. The woman dialogues with the different elements the space offers her: a 9-metre rope, a giant ball, a ribbon, a dance-air with which she fights a battle of life or death.
The textual description clings to physical detail. An actress who moves like a bull in its pen, like a child in a ball pit, like a guerrilla fight in the tropical jungle. In short, a one-on-one between word and movement, brought to humour and thought. Dancing the word, counting on gesture. If the piece could be eaten, it would taste of Málaga.
Winner of the Premio Max for best revelation show 2022, the Ojo Crítico award for performing arts 2022 and best performance at the VI Premios Ateneo. Director of the Escena Viva Autóctonxs Festival, which celebrates its fifth edition, her latest show ¿Tú sabes lo que es una posidonia? premieres this season and is produced by Teatro del Soho CaixaBank.
