Beth Gibbons Announcing Final Shows for Her Lives Outgrown Album

Beth Gibbons, the singer best known as the voice of Portishead, performs songs from the album Lives Outgrown at O2 Academy Leeds on this visit to the city.

Beth Gibbons is an English singer and songwriter from Bristol, best known as the vocalist of the trip-hop group Portishead, formed in the mid-1990s with Geoff Barrow and Adrian Utley. Their albums Dummy and Portishead, with its melancholic textures and Gibbons's contained, expressive vocals, shaped a distinctive strand of electronic and alternative music. Her solo work, beginning with Out of Season in 2002, moves towards folk, orchestral and chamber sounds, and Lives Outgrown is her most recent album. The concerts in this run are presented as the final shows linked to that record.

The night is aimed at listeners who follow her solo work as well as Portishead's admirers, and the programme centres on material from Lives Outgrown. Presented as a pop, rock and indie evening, it places a singer-songwriter's intimate delivery in a contemporary live setting.

O2 Academy Leeds is a venue in the city that hosts concerts and shows across a wide range of genres, making it a regular destination for live music in Leeds.
