Overview
A London concert by the Raghu Dixit Trio, presenting songs with the stories behind them, in the world music listings at Kings Place. Raghu Dixit is an Indian singer and songwriter.
Raghu Dixit is an Indian singer and songwriter from Karnataka, whose work draws on the folk traditions of southern India and combines them with rock and other contemporary influences. Much of the repertoire is sung in Kannada, the language of the state. This evening is presented by the Raghu Dixit Trio under the title Songs and their Stories, which points to a programme in which each song is introduced with its background.
The concert takes place at Kings Place, an arts centre by the Regent's Canal in King's Cross that hosts concerts and shows. It suits listeners interested in South Indian folk-rock and in hearing songs placed in their cultural context, as well as those already following the artist's work.
