Room on the Broom Live On Stage

A family theatre production adapting Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's picture book Room on the Broom, presented by Tall Stories at the Lyric Theatre in London. It is a children's show for audiences aged three and over.

The production follows a witch and her cat who, while out on their broomstick, offer lifts to a dog, a bird and a frog. The broom cannot carry five passengers, and its breaking in two coincides with the arrival of a hungry dragon, so the story turns on how the group manages to fit on one broom. The show is based on the book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler and is staged as an imaginative storytelling piece by Tall Stories.

According to the listing, the show combines storytelling, music, puppetry and live performance to bring the book's characters to the stage. It is described as an introduction to live theatre for young children, and its adult audience is addressed too, with the production having been nominated for an Olivier Award.

The show takes place at the Lyric Theatre, a London venue that hosts concerts and shows. Relaxed and audio described performances are listed among the sessions on this page.
