Berlin

Berlin is a play by Joanna Murray-Smith, staged in its UK premiere at the Kiln Theatre in London and directed by Lucy Bailey. It follows a single tense encounter between characters.

Joanna Murray-Smith's play was first staged in Australia, where it received critical acclaim. This London production is its UK premiere, with Lucy Bailey directing. The story centres on one encounter that grows steadily more charged, and the tension comes from what the two people cannot quite say to each other.

The play explores intimacy, identity and the way the past can weigh on the present. Its setting is a restless city, and it poses a direct question: once a connection has taken hold, can anyone truly leave it behind?

The Kiln Theatre, which hosts concerts and shows in London, is the venue for this production. The subject will appeal to theatre-goers who prefer character-led drama that focuses on a small number of people and a single situation.
