Overview
A candlelit evening of two Beethoven violin sonatas, performed by violinist Jenny Sacha and pianist Warren Mailley-Smith at St Mary Le Strand Church in London.
The programme pairs Beethoven's Violin Sonata in D major, Op. 12 No. 1, with his Violin Sonata in F major, the work known as the Spring Sonata. Both are chamber works for violin and piano, so the evening is devoted to two instruments rather than a larger ensemble.
Jenny Sacha plays the violin and Warren Mailley-Smith the piano. The performance takes place in the church's nave, which is lit by candles as the music begins, and the concert is presented as classical chamber music.
St Mary Le Strand is a religious building on the Strand in central London. Bars and restaurants are nearby on the Strand for anyone who wants to continue the evening after the final notes.
