Genesis Owusu

Genesis Owusu, a Ghanaian-Australian rapper and singer, performs at Electric Brixton in London as part of a concert presented by Parallel Lines.

Genesis Owusu is a Ghanaian-Australian rapper and singer born in 1998 in Koforidua, active since 2015. The debut album, Smiling with No Teeth, appeared in 2021, and the material for this concert also refers to the follow-up Struggler, released in 2023, which was well received by critics and placed the artist among the more distinctive names to emerge from the Australian scene in recent years.

The concert is presented as a showcase of new work: the artist is preparing a third album, REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE. According to the presentation, its sound moves between neo-soul, alternative pop, synth punk and funk, with genre boundaries blurring across the record, and its emotional range runs from resistance and joy to reflection.

Electric Brixton is a London venue that hosts concerts and shows. The night suits listeners interested in genre-crossing pop, rock and indie music who want to hear material from a current artist still developing a new record.
