Overview
A themed night at Freight Brixton in Brixton, London, built around an imagined collaboration between Prince and Jamiroquai, with DJ sets, live performances and visuals, mixed by Ché Wax.
This event is built around an imagined collaboration between Prince and Jamiroquai rather than a concert by either act. The programme combines DJ sets and live performances, with visuals intended to bring that imagined pairing to life, and the evening is mixed by Ché Wax.
The two reference points are clearly defined. Jamiroquai is a British acid jazz and funk band from London, also drawing on alternative rock and pop. Formed in 1992, the band is fronted by singer Jay Kay and was signed to Mercury Records, releasing Emergency on Planet Earth in 1993. Prince, according to the source material, laid the groundwork for futuristic funk by blending R&B, rock and synth-pop.
Freight Brixton is a London venue that hosts concerts and shows. Because the night is presented as a themed programme of DJs and live performances, it is best understood as an event inspired by these two artists, not as a performance by Prince or by Jamiroquai.
