Mr Loverman

A theatre production at the National Theatre's Lyttelton stage, adapting Bernardine Evaristo's novel about a long-hidden relationship that spans six decades, from Antigua to present-day London.

Mr Loverman follows Barrington Walker, a respected husband, father and grandfather in his Hackney community, who has kept a secret for sixty years: a relationship with his best friend, Morris. The story moves across six decades of his life, from Antigua to modern London, and centres on the question of whether he can finally choose to live openly.

Danny Sapani plays Barrington and Gary Beadle plays Morris. Natasha Gordon has adapted Bernardine Evaristo's acclaimed novel for the stage, and the production is directed by Paulette Randall MBE, who also directed Doctor Faustus. The source describes the adaptation as both funny and tender, combining humour with a family drama about love and identity.

The show takes place at the National Theatre Lyttelton, a theatre in London hosting plays and other live performances. Assisted performances are arranged directly through the National Theatre.
