Rodrigo y Gabriela

Rodrigo y Gabriela, the Mexican guitar duo, play a London concert at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire. The act combines acoustic and electric guitar playing with a flamenco-rumba foundation.

Rodrigo y Gabriela are a duo of Mexican guitarists formed in Mexico City in 2000. Their music draws on flamenco rumba, and they released their first album, Foc, in 2001 on ATO Records. Their playing is built around two guitars, with rhythmic percussive technique and fast interplay between the two parts.

The duo's repertoire has long centred on instrumental guitar pieces, with rock and indie sensibilities running alongside the flamenco roots. Their stage show is built on the two guitarists and their instruments, so audiences can expect a concert focused on guitar music rather than vocals.

The O2 Shepherds Bush Empire is a concert venue in west London that hosts concerts and shows throughout the year. The evening suits listeners who follow flamenco-influenced guitar music, as well as those who know the duo's earlier records and want to hear them live.
