Shonen Knife

Shonen Knife is a Japanese all-female rock trio, performing at The Garage in London. The concert is one of several dates on this visit to London.

Shonen Knife is a rock band formed in Osaka, Japan, in 1981, built around the songwriting of Naoko Yamano. The group is known to British audiences for its bright, melodic power pop, sung largely in English, and for its playful, short songs that often take everyday subjects such as food and animals as their themes. Its early records were released on independent labels, and the band later gained a wider international following through its work with American punk and indie musicians.

Live, the trio plays with a stripped-back line-up of guitar, bass and drums, and its shows focus on fast, compact songs drawn from across its long catalogue. The group's sound draws on the Ramones and the Beatles, and its concerts are typically short, high-energy sets.

The Garage is a venue in London that hosts concerts and shows, and this evening suits listeners who follow Japanese rock, punk-influenced pop or long-running independent bands.
