The Cinematic Orchestra

A concert by The Cinematic Orchestra, the British band whose blend of downtempo, jazz and electronica has drawn on film-like textures since its formation. The performance takes place at Aviva Studios in Manchester.

The Cinematic Orchestra is a British downtempo, jazz and electronica band formed in London in 1999. The group released its debut album, Motion, the same year on Domino Records. Their music combines jazz instrumentation with electronic production and sampling, which gives their recordings a sense of cinematic sweep and has earned the band a following across both jazz and electronic audiences.

Elliott Skinner is also named among the artists on this bill. The band is built around its recordings, with a live presentation that shifts between instrumental passages and vocal material, and the stage show reflects the layered arrangements of their albums.

Aviva Studios - Warehouse is a concert and performance venue on Water Street in Manchester. The night suits listeners who follow the band's jazz and electronic lineage, and those interested in a performance in a venue dedicated to live music and performance in the city centre.
