Overview
A London concert by The Cinematic Orchestra, the British downtempo, jazz and electronica band, staged at Union Chapel in Islington.
The Cinematic Orchestra is a British band formed in London in 1999, and it released its debut album, Motion, the same year on Domino Records. Its music combines downtempo, jazz and electronica, placing the group at the meeting point of club production and live instrumental playing.
The night takes place at Union Chapel, a religious building on Compton Terrace in London N1. The chapel's architecture and its use as a concert space make it a setting that suits music in which the ensemble's live playing is central to the performance.
The evening suits listeners who already know the band's recordings and those interested in how downtempo and jazz-based electronic music sounds in a live, acoustic setting.
