The Wedding Present

A concert by The Wedding Present, the British indie rock band, at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire in London. The act's catalogue and influences are set out below.

The Wedding Present is a British indie rock band from Leeds, formed in 1985. The group's musical lineage is rooted in the post-punk scene, and it is often placed in the vein of The Fall, Buzzcocks and Gang of Four. The band signed to Island Records and released the album George Best in 1987, fronted by singer and guitarist David Gedge.

On stage, the band is led by David Gedge, whose guitar and vocals have anchored its sound since the mid-1980s. The concert is billed with the songs Desperate Journalist and Belle and Chain, which are listed on the page as part of this show's context. Both titles are drawn from the group's own repertoire.

The night suits listeners who follow British indie guitar music from the 1980s and 1990s and want to hear a band whose catalogue spans four decades. The O2 Shepherds Bush Empire is a London venue that hosts concerts and shows throughout the year, and the evening is part of that programme.
