About — The artist
Monique Serf, known as Barbara, is a French singer-songwriter, born on 9 June 1930 in the 17th arrondissement of Paris and died on 24 November 1997 in Neuilly-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine).
Her poetry, carried by the harmony of her compositions and the subtlety of her performances, won her a loyal following for forty years. Many of her songs have become classics of French chanson, including Une petite cantate, Dis, quand reviendras-tu ?, Nantes, Göttingen, La Dame brune, L'Aigle noir, Marienbad and Ma plus belle histoire d'amour.
