About — The artist
William Emanuel Cobham Jr., known as Billy, born 16 May 1944 in Panama, is a Panamanian jazz drummer and composer. Famous for his jazz fusion in the 1970s with the Mahavishnu Orchestra, he established a drumming style influenced by rock and funk. Billy Cobham played with jazz musicians such as Horace Silver and Joe Henderson, so his roots lie in jazz rather than rock.
