Joyce Moreno

Joyce Moreno (born January 31, 1948), better known as Joyce, is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and guitarist.

The earliest record of her work as a singer dates back to 1964, when she took part in a vocal quartet on the recording of Pacífico Mascarenhas's album Sambacana. Four years later, she released her first solo album, Joyce, on the Philips label, writing five of the album's ten songs on her own, in addition to a collaboration with musician Jards Macalé. She has since produced 45 further records and two DVDs, written close to 400 songs, and received four Latin Grammy Award nominations (2000, 2004, 2005, and 2010).

As a songwriter, Joyce Moreno has had her songs recorded by nearly all of the biggest names in Música popular brasileira — including Elis Regina, Maria Bethânia, Gal Costa, Milton Nascimento, Edu Lobo, and Elizeth Cardoso — as well as by foreign artists such as Annie Lennox, Omara Portuondo, Claus Ogerman, the Black Eyed Peas, Gerry Mulligan, and Wallace Roney. Her compositions also feature in two film soundtracks, Robert Altman's The Player (1992) and Robert Luketic's Legally Blonde, as well as in the soundtrack of the Japanese anime series Wolf's Rain.
