Joyce Moreno

A concert by Joyce Moreno, the Brazilian singer, composer and guitarist, at EartH in London. The programme draws on a career that began in 1968 and spans bossa nova and música popular brasileira.

Joyce Moreno, born in Rio de Janeiro, is a singer, composer, arranger and instrumentalist who has been active since 1968, when she released her self-titled debut album on the EMI label. Working between bossa nova and música popular brasileira, the artist has written a large body of songs, many of them interpreted by leading figures of Brazilian popular music, including Elis Regina, Gal Costa and Milton Nascimento. Joyce Moreno has received four Latin Grammy nominations, in 2000, 2004, 2005 and 2010.

The artist's compositions have also appeared in film soundtracks and animation. In the early 1990s, the track Aldeia de Ogum became a widely played dancefloor hit, with several remixes, after DJs in London and elsewhere took up the music. A distinctive feature of the songwriting is the first-person feminine voice, which the artist pioneered in Brazilian song.

EartH hosts concerts and shows in London, and this evening is listed as a performance by Joyce Moreno at the venue.
