A History Worth Repeating: Songs and Stories from Lucius

A History Worth Repeating brings Lucius to the Castro Theatre for an evening of songs and stories from the Brooklyn band, whose blues, country and folk roots run through its harmony-driven music.

Lucius is a band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2008 around the close vocal harmonies of Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig. Their debut album, Wildewoman, came out in 2013. The band's music draws on blues, country and folk, and its songs are built on those two voices sharing melodies and harmonies.

This show is billed as songs and stories from Lucius, so the evening centers on the band's catalog and the background behind the material rather than a single album. Listeners who follow roots-leaning singer-songwriter music, or who know the band's records and want to hear the songs told in their own context, are the audience this program is aimed at.

The Castro Theatre is a movie palace that opened in 1922 in the Castro district of San Francisco. It hosts concerts and shows as well as film screenings, and its historic auditorium gives the evening a setting rooted in the city's theater history.
