Boston Murder Mystery: Solve the case in Back Bay!

A self-guided, outdoor detective game played on foot through Back Bay, where a team uses a smartphone to gather clues, question suspects and solve a murder case. It starts on Dartmouth Street.

The story opens with travel blogger Bella Wanderlust, found dead during a ghost tour led by Percy Shadows. Players act as the main investigators, moving between twelve locations across Back Bay, including Commonwealth Avenue Mall, Copley Square, Trinity Church and the Rolly-Michaux Galleries. At each stop they examine the surroundings for hidden clues, check alibis and interrogate suspects, with the running time set at 60 to 120 minutes.

The game is run through the Questo app on a smartphone, which serves as the detective's tool. Puzzles, scavenger hunt challenges and mystery tasks are built into the route, and each team can move at its own pace or compete against other groups. The walk covers about 1.5 miles (2.5 km), and the game is offered in English, French, German and Spanish.

No prior experience is needed. The outing suits friends, families and mystery fans, with a recommended minimum age of 14. Classic detective or sleuth attire is encouraged for those who want to dress for the case.
