Secret Society of Boston: A Detective City Game

An outdoor detective game in Boston, played on a smartphone with the Questo app, that starts at 40 Battery Street and sends players through the city to solve a conspiracy story.

Players take on the role of an undercover detective and work through a story about a secret society said to have controlled the city for centuries. The game is organized as 12 chapters, each a mystery tied to real-world locations, and the clues are read and solved through the Questo app. A smartphone with an internet connection is needed to follow the story.

The game takes place entirely outdoors, on foot, in streets, plazas and public corners of the city, where murals, statues and alleyways can hold a clue. Players are asked to stay out of private buildings and premises. There is no limit on group size, so the game can be played alone or with as many friends as wish to join.

The format is an outdoor puzzle and exploration game rather than a performance. It is aimed at solo players, groups of friends and families, and it suits visitors who want to see parts of Boston on foot while solving problems along the way.
