Chicago Architecture River Cruise

A boat cruise on the Chicago River that passes more than 40 notable buildings, with commentary from an architecture guide on their design and history.

This architecture cruise follows the Chicago River by boat. It runs down the main branch, up the north branch as far as the East Bank Club, then back south past Willis Tower, also known as the Sears Tower, to the Old Post Office Building. Along the way, passengers see more than 40 notable buildings along the river and the skyline.

Two of the buildings named are the John Hancock Center, a skyscraper that shapes the city's skyline, and the Wrigley Building, recognized by its white facade and clock tower. The cruise is narrated by an architecture expert, who explains the design and history of the buildings as the boat moves past them.

The cruise suits both Chicago residents and visitors seeing the city for the first time, especially those who want to view the architecture from the water. Passengers can sit back and watch the skyline unfold.
