Lake Michigan Skyline Cruise in Chicago

A sightseeing boat trip on Lake Michigan in Chicago, offering views of the downtown skyline from the water. Narration or music is provided, depending on the sailing.

This is a sightseeing cruise rather than a hands-on activity. Passengers stay on the boat and look out over Lake Michigan at the lakefront and the city's skyscrapers, seen from a vantage point that is not available from the street.

Sailings that leave earlier in the day and into the early evening include recorded narration about the skyline. Later departures are Groove Cruises, which add music and the sound of the lake. A bar on board serves drinks during the trip. The material for this outing suggests bringing a camera to photograph the skyline.

The cruise suits visitors passing through Chicago and anyone who wants to see the city's architecture from the water. Winter sailings, from November through April, run for a shorter length of time than the rest of the season.
