D. Harrison's Quantum Leap Music Fest Freaquinauts & Rebirth

A New Orleans jazz evening at the New Orleans Jazz Market, titled D. Harrison's Quantum Leap Music Fest, with Freaquinauts and Rebirth Brass Band on the bill. It draws on the city's jazz, brass and funk traditions.

Donald Harrison is a New Orleans alto saxophonist whose playing connects modern jazz with the Mardi Gras Indian tradition of his home city. Rebirth Brass Band, founded in New Orleans in 1983, blends the brass band tradition of second-line parades with funk and hip-hop. The title pairs the Freaquinauts with Rebirth, placing both groups on one night.

Drummer Stanton Moore is a member of the funk band Galactic, and guitarist Leo Nocentelli played with The Meters, one of the foundational funk groups from New Orleans. Erica Falls is also on the bill. Together the artists connect the city's jazz, brass band and funk lineages within a single program.

The concert takes place at New Orleans Jazz Market, a venue that hosts concerts and shows in New Orleans. The evening suits listeners interested in New Orleans jazz, brass band music and funk.
