Her Only Light: Songs of Connie Converse

Her Only Light: Songs of Connie Converse is a concert of material by the American singer-songwriter Connie Converse, performed by the act Her Only Light at Epiphany Center for the Arts in Chicago.

Connie Converse was an American singer-songwriter who recorded in New York in the 1950s, writing songs in a folk idiom that drew on personal, conversational lyrics. Much of that work reached a wider audience only after it was rediscovered decades later, and her songs have since been taken up by other musicians. This program is a tribute built around her material: Her Only Light performs Converse's songs, and Converse herself does not appear on stage.

The music is rooted in blues, country and folk, and the program centers on the songwriting tradition behind those styles. The songs are the focus, so the night suits listeners interested in Converse's catalog and in the folk and country lineage it belongs to.

The concert takes place at The Sanctuary, the performance space of Epiphany Center for the Arts, a venue that hosts concerts and shows in Chicago.
