Michael Shannon & Jason Narducy and Friends play R.E.M.'s Document

A tribute concert in San Francisco where Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy and Friends perform the songs of R.E.M.'s 1987 album Document at The Fillmore. The performers are not R.E.M.

R.E.M., formed in Athens, Georgia, released Document in 1987 on I.R.S. Records. The album includes "The One I Love" and "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)," two of the band's best-remembered songs. This show re-creates that record, and it is a tribute to the band rather than a performance by R.E.M. itself.

Michael Shannon is an American actor active since 1992, whose screen roles include Revolutionary Road (2008). Jason Narducy is a bassist who has played in Bob Mould's band. The program is led by these two names, joined by a group of guest musicians whose lineup is not part of this description.

The Fillmore is a San Francisco venue that hosts concerts and shows. The night suits listeners who know R.E.M.'s catalog and want to hear Document's songs performed by a different group of musicians, with the album's 1980s guitar-pop and jangle-rock sound as the reference point.
