Michael Shannon & Jason Narducy and Friends play R.E.M.'s Document

Michael Shannon, Jason Narducy, and friends perform R.E.M.'s 1987 album Document in full on this visit to Seattle.

Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy team up with a circle of collaborators to perform R.E.M.'s sixth studio album, Document, in its entirety. Released in 1987, Document marked a major commercial and critical breakthrough for the Athens, Georgia alternative rock band, propelled by singles such as The One I Love and It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine). The original record established R.E.M. as a dominant force in American indie rock, blending politically charged lyrics with jangly guitars and driving rhythms.

This performance brings together Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy alongside guest musicians to interpret the landmark release track by track. The concert takes place at Neptune Theatre, a historic venue located in the University District that hosts concerts and shows in Seattle.

Music fans interested in alternative rock history and full-album interpretations will find this performance a direct exploration of a foundational 1980s record. The collaboration highlights the enduring catalog of R.E.M. through the lens of contemporary artists.
