Son Volt

Son Volt is an American rock band led by Jay Farrar. Singer-songwriter Kelly Willis is also on the bill for this concert at August Hall in San Francisco.

Son Volt is a rock band formed in 1994 by Jay Farrar, who had co-founded Uncle Tupelo before that group disbanded. The band's debut album, Trace, released in 1995, set out the roots-rock and alt-country sound that has shaped its recordings since. Farrar is the band's principal songwriter and singer, and the catalog carries the same blend of Americana storytelling and guitar-driven rock that marked the earlier Uncle Tupelo work.

Kelly Willis is a singer-songwriter whose work is rooted in country and Americana. Kelly Willis's place on the bill sets the evening within the roots and alternative country scene that connects both artists'recordings.

August Hall is a San Francisco venue that hosts concerts and shows. The night suits listeners who follow Americana, alt-country and roots rock, and anyone interested in how Uncle Tupelo's lineage continues in Son Volt's music.
