Alash Ensemble

Alash Ensemble performs world music on this visit to New Orleans at Gasa Gasa, presenting traditional Tuvan throat singing.

Alash Ensemble is a musical group specializing in Tuvan throat singing, a traditional art form originating from the Tuva Republic in southern Siberia. The members are master practitioners of khoomei, sygyt, and kargyraa, techniques that allow a single vocalist to produce multiple pitches simultaneously. Alongside traditional instruments such as the igil, doshpuluur, and chuur, the ensemble incorporates western musical elements into their repertoire, bridging ancient nomadic traditions with contemporary sounds.

Gasa Gasa hosts concerts and shows in New Orleans, providing a venue for this performance. This event suits listeners interested in international folk traditions and acoustic vocal arts.
