An Evening with River Shook

An evening with River Shook, the solo project of the artist who has carried the country-rock sound of Sarah Shook & the Disarmers into a new phase, staged at Zebulon in Los Angeles. The show centers on material from a self-titled debut solo album.

River Shook continues the country-rock lineage of Sarah Shook & the Disarmers, now as a solo artist with a self-titled debut album. The record mixes country rock, blues and folk, with electric guitar solos, pedal steel and a distinctive voice carrying candid, personal lyrics about hard truths and self-awareness.

The songs address familiar situations. In "Country Angel," a narrator embraces young love and freedom while recognizing that those moments slip away. "If We Got A Chance" follows a touring musician who misses a partner back home, struggles to resolve an argument from the road, and weighs whether to keep fighting for a strained relationship. Across the album, the lyrics take on subjects people often avoid and suggest that change is possible once someone is ready.

The evening suits listeners drawn to country, blues and folk songwriting. Zebulon is a Los Angeles venue that hosts concerts and shows.
