Boney James

Boney James is an American saxophonist working in jazz fusion, jazz and smooth jazz. This concert brings the act to the Birchmere in Alexandria.

Boney James is an American musician whose work spans jazz fusion, jazz and smooth jazz. Born in 1961 in Lowell, the musician has been active since 1976, and plays saxophone, which places the saxophone at the center of this act's sound.

The lineage runs through jazz fusion, the style that combined jazz improvisation with rock and funk rhythms, and through smooth jazz, which favors melodic lines and polished arrangements. Those two strands give the project its identity, with the instrumental focus of jazz fusion and the accessible melodies of smooth jazz.

The night suits listeners who follow jazz fusion and smooth jazz. The Birchmere hosts concerts and shows in Alexandria, and this date brings Boney James to its stage on this tour.
