Caifanes

Mexican rock band Caifanes performs live in San Diego at the Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre at Sdsu.

Caifanes formed in Mexico City during the mid-1980s, emerging as a foundational group in Latin rock and alternative Spanish-language music. Led by singer Saúl Hernández, the band helped shape the rock en español movement alongside contemporaries like Soda Stereo, blending post-punk textures with traditional Mexican musical elements. Their studio catalog includes landmark releases such as their self-titled debut, commonly referred to as Volume 1, and El Silencio, which established enduring compositions within Hispanic rock history.

Live performances typically feature a career-spanning setlist drawing from their multiple albums, delivered by their touring lineup on stage at the Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre at Sdsu. This concert offers an opportunity for longtime listeners and new audiences to hear these foundational Latin rock songs performed in a large outdoor venue setting in San Diego.
