Chris Acker, Kinsey Lee

Folk and country artist Chris Acker performs in San Diego, bringing candid storytelling and sharp wit to the stage.

New Orleans-based singer-songwriter Chris Acker crafts candid country and folk tunes that blend sharp wit with the unrefined realities of everyday life. Following in the tradition of legendary writers like Woody Guthrie and John Prine, the project draws inspiration from the folk revival and the golden age of country music, while also incorporating the influence of punk shows and brass bands.

Recent work includes the full-length album Famous Lunch, released on Gar Hole Records, featuring tracks such as the country-rocker Shove Surprise, alongside bar-ready compositions and tender folk arrangements. Performances feature selections from this catalog, delivered with a distinct quavering vocal style and a focus on vivid lyricism.

Soda Bar hosts the concert in San Diego. The evening suits followers of traditional American songwriting and contemporary roots music who appreciate literate, grounded storytelling.
