Earth, Wind & Fire

Earth, Wind & Fire perform soul, funk and R&B at The Venetian Theatre at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, with the American band Earth also named on the bill.

Earth, Wind & Fire is a band formed in Chicago in 1969 by Maurice White. Its music combines soul, funk, R&B, gospel and reggae, and its best-known songs include "Shining Star" (1975), "September" (1978) and "Let's Groove" (1981). The band's repertoire draws on that catalog of horn-driven soul and funk.

Earth is a separate act and not the same group. It is an American drone doom and experimental band from Olympia, Washington, formed in 1989 by Dylan Carlson, Slim Moon and Greg Babior. Signed to Sub Pop, the band released "Earth 2: Special Low Frequency Version" in 1993, a work regarded as a pioneering record of the genre.

The Venetian Theatre at The Venetian Resort hosts concerts and shows in Las Vegas. The bill pairs two very different traditions: a long-running soul and funk ensemble from Chicago and a drone doom project from the Pacific Northwest. The evening suits listeners who follow either the classic soul and funk catalog or the heavy, slow textures of drone music.
