G. Love & Special Sauce

A concert by G. Love & Special Sauce, a band that blends blues, folk and hip hop, with Todd Carey, at Garcia's Chicago in Chicago.

G. Love & Special Sauce is a pop, rock and indie act whose songs draw on blues guitar, folk and hip hop rhythms. The band is fronted by G. Love and released its self-titled debut album in 1994, a record that set the template for its loose, groove-driven approach to acoustic blues and rap-inflected storytelling.

The evening also features Todd Carey, who is billed alongside the band for this Chicago date. The project's lineage runs through roots music and the Philadelphia hip hop scene, and its records remain the clearest point of entry for anyone new to its catalog.

Garcia's Chicago hosts concerts and shows in Chicago. The night suits listeners who follow blues-rooted rock and hip hop crossover songwriting and want to hear how those influences translate on stage.
