How The West Was Won

A rap concert titled How The West Was Won, bringing together six West Coast artists at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood. The bill spans the Bay Area and Southern California rap scenes.

The bill combines veterans of West Coast rap. E-40 comes from Vallejo, and Too $hort is one of the early Oakland rappers who helped shape Bay Area rap from the 1980s onward. Mack 10 is tied to the Los Angeles Westside scene and released a self-titled album in 1992. Daz is a member of the Dogg Pound and was part of the Death Row Records roster. Sage the Gemini and Kid Ink complete the lineup, linking the older generation of West Coast rap to newer releases.

The night is built around regional rap, with several artists from different parts of the West Coast sharing one program. It suits listeners who follow Bay Area and Los Angeles rap across its history.

The YouTube Theater is a concert and show venue in Inglewood, and this program places it at the center of a West Coast rap evening.
