Iris Marlowe

A Chicago concert by Iris Marlowe, an artist working in blues, country and folk, at Carol's Pub, a local venue for concerts and shows.

Iris Marlowe works in the blues, country and folk traditions and is the sole artist on this bill. The genres sit closely together in American roots music, drawing on narrative lyrics and song-based storytelling.

Carol's Pub is a venue in Chicago that hosts concerts and shows. The night is aimed at listeners who follow blues, country and folk and want to hear a single artist in concert.

Blues developed from African American musical traditions in the Deep South, and Chicago became a major center for electric blues after World War II. Country and folk draw on rural ballads and string-band traditions of the South and Appalachia, so the three genres share a common root in folk song.
