MARVIN - The Marvin Gaye Musical

A stage musical built around the songs of Marvin Gaye, the Motown singer and songwriter, presented at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center in Redondo Beach.

Marvin Gaye was a soul singer and songwriter whose recording career at Motown Records ran from the early 1960s into the 1980s. Among his best-known recordings are "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," and the 1971 album What's Going On, which combined socially conscious lyrics with lush soul arrangements. "Let's Get It On," released in 1973, became one of his most widely heard later hits.

MARVIN - The Marvin Gaye Musical is a stage production that draws on that catalog, placing the songs within a theatrical narrative. Because the title names Marvin Gaye directly, the show is oriented toward audiences who want to hear the Motown-era repertoire staged as musical theater rather than performed as a concert by the original artist.

The Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center hosts concerts and shows in Redondo Beach. The evening suits theater-goers and soul and Motown listeners interested in how Gaye's music translates to the stage, and it offers a chance to hear his well-known songs in a theatrical setting.
