Neurosis + High On Fire

A double bill at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn pairing Neurosis, the Oakland band that blends sludge metal, punk hardcore and post-metal, with High On Fire, a sludge and stoner metal group from the same city.

Neurosis is an American band from Oakland, formed in 1985, whose music brings together sludge metal, punk hardcore and post-metal in a single heavy sound. High On Fire, also American, was formed in Oakland in 1998 and plays sludge metal and stoner metal. The group is signed to Relapse Records and released its first album, The Art of Self Defense, in 2000.

The pairing puts two Oakland bands with a shared sludge foundation on the same bill. Listeners who follow heavy metal and its underground branches, from slow, weighty riffs to the faster force of hardcore punk, will find the common ground between the two acts clearly audible in their respective catalogs.

Saint Vitus hosts concerts and shows in Brooklyn, and this evening is one of its heavy music bookings.
